Help with no sound device on A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo

I just got the ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe board off eBay, no drivers/manual/io plate/anything, and whilst everything seems to be in order, I have one issue. From a fresh XP install there is no sound card listed in the device manager (besides the standard XP ones). I first thought this could be the UAA driver issue but I've now tried several variants of fixes both from ASUS and other vendors, with no luck. So I doubt it's this, but am not ruling it out of the equation if you have a good source for the ASUS UAA drivers.

So, my question is, does anyone else have this board, did you have this issue?
There is nothing '!' or '?' in the device manager, I've reset the BIOS back to defaults and ensured onboard audio is enabled so I'm running out of idea's. I can only think that I've installed the chipset incorrectly, but I figure I'd be seeing more problems than just no sound device.
