    Total Nightmare!

    Hello,

Decided to give the case a sprucing today and try adn tidy up some of the cabling..

All went well until i took it back to the desk and connected it back up..

Firstly the Keyboard wouldn't work, fiddled with drivers and eventually got it working, then after i found the keyboard was working the mouse stopped working eventhough i never touched the mouse' drivers..

Thought it was rather odd so decided to try adn look into why it could be doing it,

From as far as i can see the right drivers are installed but for some reason when i boot it comes up with "1 Keyboard, 1 Hub) instead of where it previously said "1 Keyboard, 1 Mouse"..

    Don't know what's gone on,

Tried deleting the infcache.1 file adn rebooting but no joy,

The device manager is now showing two unknown devices, when i try to reinstall the hardware it reccomened using HID Compliant Device driver but just gives me an error each time..

Any help would be greatly appreciated since it's a pain in the arse using only a keyboard

    EDIT:

Just uninstalled the USB Composite Device and the Razer drivers from PC..

Booted back up and the mouse worked!

Unfortunatley when i logged in Vista automatically installed the "correct" drivers and it's now not working again..

    Re: Total Nightmare!

I have had this exact problem with Razer mice. I am using the standard MS drivers becuase I can't get the Razor ones to work. When I install them I get no mouse.

    Re: Total Nightmare!

    Right click on MyComputer

    go to device manager

find the device you want to update

right click on it and goto "properties"

    click on "update driver"

click on "browse my computer for the driver"

click on "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"

It should bring a list of all compatible drivers.

    Re: Total Nightmare!

Whenever i try to update the drivers it only reccomends the driver that is installed..

For the two unkown devices it reccomends HID Compliant device but when i try to install it it gives me "Windows found the drive but encountered a problem trying to install it" - "The driver instatllation file for this device is missing an entry"

    EDIT:

I've managed to get it working by uninstalling the USB Composite Device then rebooting. It works on the logon screen but as soon as i get onto the desktop, P&P automatically installs the correct drivers being "Razer Copperhead USB Mouse", "HID Compliant Device" and "USB Human Interface Device"

    God i hate Vista..
