Western Digital
Hi All, Im not sure if this is the right place to post this but I need some guidance if possible.
I had a Western Digital Raptor 150GB drive that failed, I did an advance RMA with WD and you give them your credit card details encase you don't send the old drive back after you get the new one.
I sent the old drive back and I got an email from them saying they are now sending it across to a service center for processing, seemingly if it arrived I should have got an email, well I havent, my RMA status says they have not received it and tomorrow is the last date before they charge me $270 for not sending it back, ( But I have with their email proof and Royal mail tracking ) I have emailed WD twice now and no response! well over a week ago (So much for 1 business day reply)
I havent wanted to ring the europe helpline as it is in the Netherlands, and I don't want big phone bill because of their screw up.
Can anyone suggest anything? Is there a UK service center I can ring? Otherwise If they charge me I will have to get the bank to contact WD with the understanding they have taken my money when they shouldn't have, money talks eh? Done that before!
If anyone has any ideas I would be grateful!
Regards,
Andy

Re: Western Digital
which company did you buy from? can't you contact your retailer? basically cover your bases to make sure you can prove that you send the drive, so that if they do charge you, you can be refunded...
also, call the netherlands... better to pay a high phone bill than to have to cough up $270 that could be used elsewhere.

Re: Western Digital
Just as an aside, save me starting a new topic.
Where did you have to send your drive to?

Re: Western Digital
Well the thing is you deal direct with Western Digital, so you don't even contact the retailer you bought it from, cuts out the middle man!
Lourdes have you set up an RMA with Western Digital ? If you have then they send you all the details of where to send it to......
But the address is:
Western Digital Service Center
C/o EGL UK Limited
Heathrow Gateway
Godfrey Way
Hounslow
Middlesex TW4 5SY
United Kingdom
The replacment Hard Drive comes from Germany!

Re: Western Digital
No I was just wondering, planning a new RAID array and considering WD rather than Samsung because the green powers are so cheap despite being slow. I buy tons of drives so RMA services are an important consideration.
With Samsung I get a new drive back via UPS 2 days after posting. This advance RMA and still having a UK address for returns sounds good to me ...well despite your problem. :)
