PC Upgrade Help

So I've decided to upgrade a few bits and pieces from my current spec. Unfortunately I'm having an issue selecting the 3 foundation parts. CPU, Motherboard and Graphics Cards have me stumped!

Two motherboards I've been looking at are this X38 and
this. For the former I was thinking of using either the 3870X2 or just go ahead and blow a few weeks drinking for the much awaited 9800 GX2. For the latter nforce board I was thinking of taking the SLi route with 2 cheaper 8800GT's.

As for CPU - a Q9450 looked good.

Not sure what to do and having not kept up to date with all the price changes or technology updates I was hoping some of you could help! That said, I don't want to be put on pause every month in the wait of something slightly more epic.

that looks pretty good, but if you don't want to spend too much of your hard earned, then just get 2x 8800GTs in SLI for close to the GX2's performance, with a Q6600 if you intend to overclock, and a Q9450 if you don't...

if in X38, buy a 3870X2 and then save the money later on for another 3870X2
