    Question PC Turns Off then ON again:S?

    abit ip35 pro
    q6600
    2gb ballistix
    hd3870 pcs 512 ddr4
    tagan 500w dualengine
    antec nine hundred

    so why does my machine on a shutdown power off then on again and bootup?
    I've got no idea why this happens:S

    It did it with my old case aswell so it's not some stupid power switch problem so i can't work it out.
    i haven't changed anything in the bios for wake on lan or anything like that? unless its on already?
    any ideas.i usually leave it on but when i wanna just use the lappy i don't enjoy getting under the desk to turn the psu switch off...

    usual reasons that I have seen:
    failing PSU
    wake-on settings
    mismatched RAID BIOS & drivers (only on nVidia chipset mobos iirc)

    MSI P55-GD80, i5 750
    abit A-S78H, Phenom 9750,

    before people say its hardware, you need to look at the obvious option and check the event viewer.

    It's the chipset, fixed in a later BIOS if the power doesn't get interrupted.

    Actually, not sure I can understand the situation, I know the 35 chipset double starts on boot, but on shutdown....?

    nope its not overheating.i always check my temp and have very good cooling
    as for if AC loss=off power on. isn't enabled... as for wake nope...
    wierd...
    oh and the shutdown button is set to turn off not restart.

    no blue screen ?

    could be a bios issue then, see if you can find any acpi setting in bios and disable it, if the pc shuts down then we might be onto something.

    another thing to try is device manager, click on view and show hidden devices, do you have anthing with a ! or ? against it, and if so what does it say as a device description?

    Do you have a tv card or any other card that can start the PC up? Also try pulling the power cord on the PC when it gets to the stage where it should go off, leave the power pulled for 5 minutes or so and try again to see what happens.

    that seems wierd. Check the sleep modes for your HDD in the BIOS...
