Replaced motherboard but can't get into Windows

Motherboard died so I replaced it with a different motherboard and processor. My wireless USB keyboard and mouse work fine in the BIOS screen, but when I boot into Windows (safe mode or normally) I have no keyboard or mouse functionality.

I have no way of getting past the login screen as I can not type my password or move the cursor. Can anyone help?

    Windows XP SP2

    are they usb?

    if so, WAIT.

windows can take a fair old time to decide to let your keyboard & mouse work, if they're not plugged into exactly the usb ports it expects

is your Windows OEM or Retail?
OEM Windows is registered to the motherboard you installed it on and you'll have to ring MS and get them to re-activate the serial..

Have you tried switching them around? I've had that problem before and it's often resolved by switching them to a different USB socket (while the machine's running).
