Should I buy new graphics card?
Well documented on the net and several forums the recent deals on the Nvidia cards. My monitor has a native res 1680x1050. I have a 8800GTS 320mb version. Play lots of games and not really had any probs on high levels except crysis:P
Should I wait for next generation cards or do it now? Is an 8800GT sufficient for my resolution? Is a 8800GTX overkill for this monitor which I do not intend changing?
Advice appreciated.

you just answered your question. If you find you HAVE to upgrade, an 8800GT will do you well, but you don't really need to by the looks of it, and your card ought to hold out well enough until you get to the release of the real next-gen... Wait.
and yes the 8800GTX is overkill at that res, but i think it will be stressed a bit by Crysis
Re: Should I buy new graphics card?
Thanks for the reply. I was not sure at my native res what card to go for without going over the top.
I will wait now.
Cheers.
Re: Should I buy new graphics card?
A GTX could be considered overkill.. but naw...
I wouldn;t bother upgrading though. All the recent releases of cards from nVidia only offer around 10 -5 fps increases over each other for around £20 extra as you move up...
I would wait untill they realease a real refresh or a card that improves framerates massivley. If you do want to upgrade though I would suggest an 512MB 8800GT BFGTech OC2 which you can find here at scan, Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK or the standard OC version for £20 less... both offer great value, good FPS and should be ble to run Crysis at high (no AA) at your native resolution :)

Unless your pockets are lined with gold then I wouldn't even bother upgrading. It seems to be doing its job very well at the moment.
Save the pennies for the next line of GPUs. :)

Re: Should I buy new graphics card?
upgrading is a no no right now wait for a while for the 9800 to drop then consider it but you would be paying a whole lot of money for a minor upgrade if you do now you can play any game at the mo inc crysis on low which should tick you over till something better comes along. Hardly any games in the next year or so will require more power than crysis and assassins creed for PC if you can run em dont upgrade :)
