    Gainward 7900gs problems

First off I think the card is screwed, I get a garbled mess of colour on the screen, I don't think the card has ever overheated The fan has allways been kept at default and the card has never been clocked.

I was just wondering if there is any way to sort this out? I have looked through Gainwards RMA process, and although the card would still be in warantee I lost the reciept ages ago, I have sent off an email to them anyway, so I can prob expect a reply back sometime next year, but I'm not overly hopefull.

The symptoms you report often are the result of the gfx memory chip/s failing, not a lot you can do.

Have you removed the card from its slot? it's possible that vibration, over time, could have dislodged the card, and reseating it should solve this problem. While you have the card out, check for dirty conectors (on both the card and the pci-e slot), if any appear dis-coloured/dirty, gently rub them clean with an eraser on a pencil.

Hope this helps, but if it is the first prob. I mentioned then the rma process is really the only way to go.

I tried reseating the card several times, the thing is in imaculate condition, barely a spec of dust on it (thanks no doubt to my home made dust filters, the gf though I was a bit strange buying tights, but they work)
