2nd Hand motherboard and CPU combo won't post

Bought a used CPU / Motherboard bundle on ebay. It's a 939 4400+ X2 with an MSI RX480 based micro ATX board - something like this: MSI -- MICRO-STAR INT'L CO., LTD.

I've got it plugged in, in the case, with CPU and RAM. No post with onboard video, PCI card or PCI-E card. Have swapped out the RAM, trying different sticks in different slots. PSU, RAM and video cards were all working last time I used them.

When I turn on, the fans spin up, then slow down and I get 4 faint high pitched beeps. Doesn't sound like a usual beep code to me - it's not loud enough.

So any ideas? Next step is try it with an A64 3000+ I have lying around but won't be doing anything until Monday.

I've contacted the seller to let them know I'm having problems. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Edit: CMOS cleared too.

Further edit: Nevermind - it's working!

That sounds like it could be power related, have you got another spare PSU knocking around you could try.

Also, try taking everything out of the case and running the motherboard with only the board, RAM and the CPU plugged in and see what happens. If nothing, try removing the RAM.

Finally, make sure you have the 4pin AUX power connector plugged in to the motherboard as well as the 24 pin connector.

    Let us know what happens...
