Adobe Premiere Pro CS3

Hi,

Could any one give me an advice on which version of Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 (Winows) to purchase.

I have only £300 left to buy a genuine version of this software after purchasing a Matrox HDV video editing card for £500.

Retail version costs £500+ and upgrade version costs under £300.

If i get the upgrade version can i get it fully registered under my name and recieve full updates and customer support.
I think for upgrade version to work i need the previous version installed.That wont be a problem i guess,i may be able to get that borrowed from a friend.
Or do i need to have a fully licensed previous version(on my name) of it to upgrade.

I emailed an online retailer who said that i might not be able to upgrade unless Adobe has previous records of me registered with them.Is that right?

I'm guessing, if you buy the upgrade, the previous full version must be on your name as well - If your friend gives you his? I'm not sure, it's probably on his name...

CS3 is nice though, been using it in lab sessions.

That would be illegal.

You need a previous version which belongs to you to be eligable for the upgrade.

Technically, yes it will work, however that is still piracy.

Hi i bought the matrox card without the adobe premiere pro.I havent recieved the item yet but i think i just get the matrox .X2 tools only.

I bought this from US since Matrox card costs above £580 in uk. and with the software costs £1000+.

you need to get a legit version off ebay (i.e. boxed, with manuals etc) for cheap, then pay the upgrade.

I remember getting the full video studio (whatever it was called back then) for about 450 quid, incl Premiere 6.5, Encore, Audition, AE & photoshop

had another friend recently get *boxed* CS3 Premium thing off amazon in the US - friend brought it over. INSANE deal: PPro, PS, AE, AI, DW, FW, Flash, Contribute, OnLocation, Ultra - all CS3, commercial version, for about 500 quid. Some company that went bust or something. Worked out to 60 quid per app, he said



After you get a legal older version, can get the licence transferred easily - just make sure you get that assurance from the seller BEFORE you buy.

A lot of older versions on Ebay have never been registered too.

I've tried Premiere Pro and couldn't get my head around it. I always use Premiere 6.5 - standing on my head!

Serious trouble now.I got my Matrox rt.x2 hd pcie card but i cant fit it on my asus p5k-e since the ram is directly on it path.

Is there some motherboard with pcie slot on an odd place.This card is longer than 30cm.
pls help

No this needs a pcie x 1 slot

You can use cards that utilise fewer 'lanes' in a larger slot, but you can't use cards that utilise more 'lanes' in smaller slots.

PCIe slots come in a variety of physically different sizes referred to by the maximum lane count they support, ie. x1, x2, x4, x8, x16 and x32. A PCIe card will fit into a slot of its size or bigger, but not into a smaller PCIe slot.

Hi mate are u suggesting that i plug this into the blue or the black slots on the mobo.
Can someone clarify this pls.

you should be able to use it in the white slot indicated with the arrow (pci-e x1), and either the blue & black slots? (pci-e x16)...even though it doesn't have all the lanes on the card to fill the slot, it should accommodate it, and fit in between the notch up the front....going by what i've just read on the wikipedia page.

You can plug any lower number card into a higher end Pci-e one...so you can put 1x, 4x, 8x into a 16x slot with no issues.

In short, Funkstar is correct
Although there is no reason why you can't use the 1x slot either
