Abit ip35-e long beep after mains power off

    Hi all,

Having read the thread in General concerning how much a PC draws when 'off', I've started switching my computer stuff off at the mains overnight when not in use. When I turn on the mains and hit the power button the next day, the motherboard (Abit IP35-e) keeps giving nice long beeps until I manually press the power button again. After that, it boots up fine. According to the beep codes (AWARD BIOS Beep Codes - Universal abit USA Forums), the beeps would suggest a memory problem, but after booting the PC runs as normal.

Am I being paranoid, or could switching off the power at the mains damage the memory somehow?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks!

Re: Abit ip35-e long beep after mains power off

you do shut it down first don't you?

the Abit IP35 boards have a few boot-up problems, like when it powers up, then powers down, then powers back up again to switch on..

have a look on the ABIT forums?

and yes, that long bleep is a memory error code, mine does that if i reset the CMOS..
