    Question Asus P5E RAM

    Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice about RAM that will work up to 1066mhz with my Asus P5E motherboard.
I have bought 4GB of Kingston DDR2 1066MHz KHX8500D2K2/2G but now reading the manual and various posts, that people are having problems with this.

I haven't opened the Kingston RAM, so i can send it back as long as i notify the co. tomorrow.

So what's the advice from here? should i keep the RAM and see if it works, i could try 2GB first, but if it doesn't work it'll be too late to send it back and one pack opened. Will a BIOS update in the future make it work properly if it doesn't? I sort of want to keep it so i can get on with building my system, but if it's a waste of money because it wont work up to 1066 then i will change it.
Basically what's the best RAM i can get that's compatible with my P5E, to run at 1066 for around £100/$200? What about Corsair Twin2X 2GB DDR2 XMS2 8500C5 Dominator?

The other option is to change the motherboard, but i don't know if can return it now i've opened it and screwed it on.

Help me - i'm so confused! And sorry for the millions of questions and sorry that i can't post any links.

    Re: Asus P5E RAM

your safest bet is to follow the qvl for ram:
    http ://www.asus.com/999/download/products/1873/1873_10.pdf

the ram you state, isnt on the qvl but them corsair are. just double check the correct product codes. you should be fine with the qvl

    Re: Asus P5E RAM

Your motherboard supports 4 x DDR2 DIMM with a max of 8GB. Speeds of DDR2 1200 / 1066 / 800 / 667 can be used so i dont see a problem with that what you bought. You may have to change some settings in the bios for it to accept the speed of 1066. You might want to try aememory.co.ukComputer Memory upgrade, Laptop Memory, PC Memory RAM DDR DDR2 Memory for some advice, they have an excellent support staff willing to help.
