    KN9 Ultra wont boot/load/post

    Hi,

Im currently putting together a new system but am having a few problems much to my own frustration.

    MY set up is...

    AMD Black Edition 5000
    Abit KN9 Ultra
    4 x 1GB DDR2 OCZ Platinum Rev.2 800Mhz
    8800GT
    2 x 160GB SATA HDD
    OCZ Mod Stream 520w PSU

Once ive put everything together i get a blank screen... the light just flashes.

Ive tried messing around with the ram, ie sticking one or two sticks in different Dimms but i still cant get it to work.

Has anyone got any bright ideas? I would love to hear them as ive been trying to get this sorted for some while...

Thanks in advance - any reply is appreciated!

do you know which BIOS version is on the mobo?

use 1 DIMM to start with.
ensure that you have the main ATXPWR & 12VATX1 plugged in plus the power connector for the 8800GT (is this a G92 btw or the original?) & an rpm sensing fan into CPUFan header.

    which light flashes?
are there any signs of life on the mobo?

    Hi,

Do you know if this board has known issues with OCZ platinum 2 ram? I was thinking of buying some 512mb and seeing if that will do the job...

... tried both your suggestions, the mobos red light i son which would suggest its ok

do you mean the 5VSB light is on?
that just means that the mobo has standby power.
the green VCC LED should come on when it's running.

    Re: KN9 Ultra wont boot/load/post

    Hi,

I got a different brand of ram and it turns out that it must be the OCZ stuff... am going to try and flash the bios to see if the motherboard will take the ram.

Bit strange as you would have thought OCZ ram would have been low density but Ive heard a few things about how OCZ ram isnt that compatible with this specific motherboard.

it's the voltage that it requires.
normally you can install just 1 DIMM, go into the BIOS & up it to OCZ's recommended setting to let you install more.
