AFIK a registered domain has to have a published contact listing. Some hosts proxy this on your behalf, so that they are listed as the contact. Contact your domain host to see if they offer that service.

With .uk domains you can have limited privacy (olny your name) shown, your registrar should have a setting for that. Otherwise you will need to traasnfer to a registrar that has a whois privacy service, fake WHOIS information is not the way to go as it's quickly taken up if someone reports it these days.

With Nominent (.uk) you can opt out of showing all your details. Otherwise, as Lourdes says, you can go to a registrar that won't put your details on the WHOIS. Note, though, that that apparently means the registrar is actually the legal owner of the domain according to ICANN (Wikipedia).

    Re: Hiding whios info

All .co.uk domains are registered with nominet, who are the authority for all .co.uk domains, and as such you should have an account with nominet as well as your registrar. If you login to your nominet account then you will have the option to set your public information setting to private as long as your domain is registered as being owned by a private UK citizen rather than as a business, privacy options are not available on domains registered by businesses.
