    Sims2 page_fault_in_nopage_area

My Daughter uses SIMS2 on my Dell PC and it works fine, but when she ejects the DVD it BlueScreens wirh page_fault_in_nopage_area. No problems like this with any other games. Otherwise the PC (XP Home Edition) works fine. any suggestions please? Plenty of memory, disk space, defragged, good virus and malware checks regularly etc.
    thanks
    Peter

oop, sorry yeah, my bad i must have got muddled up somewhere

    Partial Redemption:

there seems to be a few threads around the internet but none have a conclusive answer... theres an example HERE

edit: i'm pretty sure i've had it before... i'll rack me brains to try and remember how i fixed it... (it may have been a corrupt installation or something)

as gonzo says (below) it could be a dying HDD or it could also be a failing memory module. but first off as gonzo says, try installing the lastest drivers for your computer

also check all of the cabled connections inside the computer (worth a shot, i.e. make sure there is no dust clogging things etc)

if you need help with finding drivers, just say so and i will hunt them down

    Re: Sims2 page_fault_in_nopage_area

try reinstalling the cd/dvd from device manager, then go for driver updates like the chipset, it may even be a dying drive, do you have one in another pc you can try ?

    Re: Sims2 page_fault_in_nopage_area

does it say anything else on the bluescreen?

i.e. do you get something such as this:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to the computer Technical information: *** STOP: 0x00000050 (0xeb7ff002, 0x00000000, 0x8054af32, 0x00000001) PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA nt!ExFreePoolWithTag+237

Unfortunatly these kind of errors can have lots and lots of causes such as dodgey audio drivers, incompatible video drivers, bad hard disks, and other failing hardware such as bad RAM

first: try installing all of the latest drivers for all of the hardware that you have in your computer

second: if you have more than one stick of RAM, start ripping the modules out one at a time. if you only have one module, you may need to find someone who can help you out with a spare module that fits your computer.

third (should be first really): If you are overclocking, return to stock, if you don't know what overclocking is then you are not doing it so you can disregard this bit.

fourth:disable any antivirus that you have (it could be caused by antivirus software)

fifth: Check Event Viewer to see if there are any additional errors that may provide an insight into what is happening

    sixth: report back

seventh: alternative solution..... don't eject the disc Just Kidding

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Question.
How old is the XP installation? if it was already on the laptop then how long have you had the laptop (unless you have reinstalled XP)?
