Corruption on boot: Diagnosis grim?

Hi guys,

Just started up the family box and have been confronted with the following screen at the HDD Check:




She goes no further, and sits with this on the screen....

I've tried resetting the CMOS and checked the GFX card - what else could be causing the issue? Is the Mobo dead? Also tried taking out each of the memory sticks individually - no love...

Lonmg shot but check keyboard and mouse are properly connected.

Then (if you have another computer to hand) download a copy of memtest+ and burn the image to CD. Boot off that and see if you get to the memory testing stage. If you do, then the problem probably lies with the hard drive or hard drive controller. Might also be worth checking that the hard drive connector (if it is SATA) is properly seated and hasn't worked loose.
