    Re: dvd rom problem

We could do with a little bit more information to be able to help...

1 - make + model number of DVD drive.

2 - have you updated any firmware on the drive.

3 - what make + type of disc are you using - (ritek/verbatim....? cd-/+r, dvd -/+r, dvd ram, blu ray?)

4 - if its a writeable disc - was it finalized properly, any data on it atall.

5 - is the disc you are using clean - got any scratches dirt, fingerprints.

    6 - Windows/Linux/Mac OS version

7 - what application are you using that tells you "no cd/dvd found in dvd rom"

8 - are you sure you are selecting the correct drive to read the data from.

9 - have you opened the case recently to upgrade/clean anything - the cable might be loose on the dvd drive, check the power lead and the sata/IDE lead at both ends.

try and answer as many as you can, it will aid us in helping you..

    Re: dvd rom problem

    ok then...

you sure the disc isn't scratched or mucky?

open the dvd drive-tray and have a look for muck on that aswell.

sounds like the game has got corrupted somehow, might have been a faulty save game or a system defrag that messed something up.

back-up your save games and try installing the latest game patch again - this might shove the missing registry entries or game files (if there are any) back into windows. then try the game again. (quicker than a full-reinstall)

if that doesn't work - then you will have to re-install all the game from scratch..

I can't really help much more on this, you'll have to wait for someone else to help if the above doesn't work...

    Re: dvd rom problem

try a complete system shutdown, wait a few minutes - grab a cup of coffee/tea, restart computer and try again.. - this clears the stuff in memory that might be causing a problem.

i would check the sata/ide cable aswell - it sounds like it's worked loose somehow.. does the drive show up in windows explorer?
