Help Installing New HDD

I bought a new hdd the other day, a Seagate 500gb one (ST3500320AS), just for storing video and other junk. It just arrived and I hooked it up to the psu and mobo, when the comp started up and I logged in and all it said it found new hardware, etc, but didn't bring up an install windows or anything else. It's not appearing on my Hard Disk Drive tab in My Computer, but it's there when I look at Device Manager, and when I go into Control Panel, Add Hardware it says it's there and working.

So, erm, can anyone help we get it working properly so I can start storing crap on it, please?

you need to format it first before you can use it. go to administrative tools then comptuer management and finally storage. once there you should see your new drive. all you need to do now is create a partition

Edit: Misread, it's there.

Edit 2: Yep, that did it, I knew I had to format it, I just had no clue how after I couldn't see any options for it at Device Manager.
