    Re: Broadband problem.

Contact VirginMedia on their newsgroups - This is where the real 'support' agents are, they are well trained and often get to the bottom of most problems, and the biggest bonus, no unbearable accents

They will probably book you in for an engineer, the newsgroups answered within 5 mins of posting my problem and i had an engineer booked for that saturday. Saturday he came and saturday i was fixed

    Good Luck.

Well I spoke to Virgin. They said to get my speed back up, I need to disconnect/reconnect the modem every 12 hours to refresh the connection, without causing an error. And within five days it should have a noticable increase. Thanks for the help everyone.

    Re: Broadband problem.

Hi again, got one more question.

Still waiting for the IP profile increase. But how do I increase my Downstream DSL connection? Its currently around 570kbps. But my line can handle up to 2meg. So what would be the best solution to get a good downstream so my IP profile will increase faster? Kopite kinda partly answered it. But at the moment I dont want to risk unplugging the router, so I have to start the five days again for the speed increase.

    Re: Broadband problem.

THe speed wont go up if ur only syncing at 570.
You need to plug ur router directly into the test socket to get the best speeds.

Any extra Extensions are going to increase the noise which will lower the speeds.

    Actually my speed doubled today.

Anyone got anymore tips on increasing the sync with the downstream? I know about the extension cables, but at the moment we kinda need them still. But any other tips of how to increase it, without an error being made.

    Re: Broadband problem.

If you get an adsl-nation XTE 2005 face plate then it will filter off all your extensions at the master socket so the BB speed should get the best out of your line. Then you wont need filters on any of the other sockets.

The face plates cost about 15 quid and will help get the best out of your line.

What router are you using? Have you upgraded the firmware to the latest version on it? Some times the firmware can make a lot of difference like the Draytek 2800`s on dsl max lines and more recently the AR7 chipset issue found on netgears and quite a few other router makers.
