    WG311 v2 drivers for VISTA?

    Hi
I just got Vista and installed in on my machine (Pentium Quad Core 6600, ABIT/IP-35 S775, 4 Gig Ram, Geforce 8800)

Unfortunately my Netgear WG311 v2 will not work in Vista. Ive searched around and other people had the same problem and Netgear will not produce drivers for it. Im just wondering if anyone found some custom ones from somewhere?

Seems a waste to buy a whole new card to replace one that works just fine??

    Cheers

not sure if it helps but....

Netgear wg311 v2 and Vista problem - Wireless - Networking

someone there says use the xp ones and the vista wireless setup tool since hte one you get with drivers works sometimes and not others

Re: WG311 v2 drivers for VISTA?

Well they didn't work all that well with XP. None of the Netgear stuff did. I bought a Netgear wireless router, 2 WG511 laptop cards and a WG311 thinking that getting a complete solution from the same manufacturer would be the most reliable.

Silly me. The WG511 cards would disconnect every (and I mean every) time I tried to copy anything larger than about 5mb across the network and the 311 card just bluescreened any Pc I put it into on a random basis. Firmware upgrades to the router and driver updates for the cards did nothing.
Worst of all the answer from Netgear technical support was that the router was probably overheating and I should stand it on the box it came in.

The only way I could get any kind of reliable connection to the DG834 router was to disable all the "advanced" functions and just use basic 802.11g.

    I'll never buy Netgear again.

Re: WG311 v2 drivers for VISTA?

I do Rate Netgear but when it comes to updated drivers i was very disappointed!

my sis's Pc also uses WG311 v2 and i have given up with looking for Vista Driver tbh.

And have given up with WIFI as its pants, to many cons... So am now using homeplugs and have never looked back!
