    Hang on Post

    hey guys,
Okay, I have tried for the second time to overclock my q6600 to 3ghz on stock voltages and jus like the first time it hangs during post. At first i thought it was becuase my memory didn't have enough juice so i upped the memory voltage to its recommend 2.1. I had the q6600 set at 1.3 and all of the other settings as auto. btw this is on a striker extreme... Any ideas why this is happening...

    Re: Hang on Post

What settings are you using to get your Q6600 to that speed?

Are you slowly clocking up to 3Ghz or have you just set it straight that high?

    Re: Hang on Post

So the FSB is at 333 and presumably the multiplier is set to 9. It may be worth upping the voltage a little on the CPU (I've got my E4300 at 1.45v) if you've got a good heatsink installed.

You say the memeory speed is unlinked, is the bios actually telling you what speed it's set the memory to?

    Re: Hang on Post

Yeah, sounds spot on... I'd try pushing the CPU voltage a little, maybe add 0.05 to 0.1v and see how that goes. And try slowly increasing the FSB and try and work out at what point it craps out.

    Re: Hang on Post

mine wont post at 333fsb, try at 325 (1300), my cpu is 2.92 and solid as a rock at those settings

the mobo seems to like the cpu/ram divider at those levels.

that or try the new 1504 bios, im yet to find the time to put it on and tinker, still using 1401

striker extreme bios is **** at the best of times, the 1504 is ment to be the best yet tho.

    Re: Hang on Post

I have mine running on auto voltage 9 x 350 . Get the BSOD every now and then so I should drop it a bit . I also upped my ram to 2.1v which helped . Still playing about with it just now . Temp wasnt to bad . I would suggest stepping up a bit at a time and running OCCT or another burn in program.

    Re: Hang on Post

    test with cpu @ 1.4
    fsb VTT 1.4
    north bridge 1.4
    south bridge 1.55
    hyper transport 1.4

seems to be my most stable settings

i just wound the cpu down to 1.39 earlier and still solid.

make sure your bios is up to date as well bud

once you boot stable you can mess about lowering voltages and running prime95 and 3dmark06 to give it a good stress test
