Both the E6600 and the Q6600 are the same speed. What where you expecting to be faster?

    Re: quad core dilema

Their both clocked at 2.4ghz so your not really going to see a difference in the OS tbh, the chip will come into its own when encoding videos or playing games that are able to use all 4 cores.

As for your cooler the Q6600 is a 105w chip the E6600 is a 65w chip, the cooler is having to work a lot harder to keep it cool. Unless the Q6600 is the efficent version which is 95w.

How did you test it before you decided you couldn't tell a speed difference?

    Re: quad core dilema

As others have said, your not going to see much difference except in heavily multithreaded tasks like video encoding and those few games that make good use of more than 2 cores. Meanwhile, the processor is potentially kicking out almost half as much heat again, so the cooler is having to work a lot harder to handle it. If you don't have a heavily multithreaded workload the Q6600 isn't going to make much noticable difference to the speed, and to keep it at happy temperatures - particularly if you're overclocking - you're going to need an "oomphier" cooler, frankly.

So, what are the main uses for the PC, and if gaming which games do you play most?

Coolermaster 212 would get rid of your sound problems - shame theres none around in the EU at the minute.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
