Ok as the title suggests for the past 2-3 days i have been getting extreemly high pings (2000ms+) in ventrilo on all servers, but only while im playing games. If i minimise the game the ventrilo ping goes back to its usual 20's.
Because of this high ping i hear their voices alot later then usual and sometimes i can also hear a constant beeping noise on vent untill the lag catches up, which is when i get about 10 million(exaggerated) voices at the same time from what people have said.
As an FYI i have been using the following setup for about 2-3 years without any problems:
Geforce 7800GT
Asus A8N-SLI Premium
AMD Athlon 4000+ (2.4ghz)
Sound Blaster X-FI Extreme Music (has caused alot of problems with some apps in the past...)
1GB Corsair Twinx
300GB Seagate SATA (seperate partitions for windows and programs)
Windows XP Pro
My ISP is Karoo (only one i can get in my city & forget what the image below says my ISP is) and the speed is upto 8mb* although here is the real speed....
The only program i have recently installed is FREE AVG which was to get rid of a virus/trojan ntos.exe, i also deleted the registry entry by this program manualy.
This virus/trojan was causing an internet slowdown, and caused almost every program which relies on the internet (Windows Live Messenger, Steam, Smart FTP, etc) to bring up an error once it had loaded. Altho i could still use the programs but with the error message constantly on screen. Altho Firefox 3.0 still seemed to work, except for alot of crashes after awhile of using it.
It also caused my PC to hang when trying to shut down, and it takes considerably more time to load at the night rider bar and the actualy programs when it gets to desktop.
After this was deleted the programs seemed to work fine altho i am still getting very long XP load times, and for some reason in Steam when i refresh the games list i only get ~40 servers in the world which are <50 ping. Usualy i get 500+.
I am still getting Firefox 3.0 errors randomly even if i just leave it viewing the same page for awhile.
Any help would be appreciated... thanks.
