Correct me if i'm wrong but Vista with sp1 slipstreamed or the retail/oem with sp1 cures this problem. I could've sworn i installed Ultimate with 8 gig installed?
Sure, glad i'm not a hardware tester then, although, in way we all are :/
It worked. But then vista said a hardware change had caused a problem and to repair it by using the boot disc. So its doing that now.
Hopefully that'll be it.
A new error now.
It says MEMORY_MANAGEMENT.
Might be something to do with the BIOS. When I changed it I had to set the memory stuff to manual. I left most of the settings to auto, but some may have to be defined, I'm not sure. I only changed the voltage one.
What do you think?
hmmmmermm
try manually defining the latencies of the RAM to what it says on the packaging (i.e. 5 5 5 12) will be known as something like: CL TRCD TRP TRAS in the bios
or try dropping the speed of the RAM down to 667mhz
to me ATM it sounds like one of the sticks is bad.... download memtest86 - burn it to a disc - and boot from it, allow it to do a few passes to ensure the RAM is fine, if it finds any errors then you should RMA the RAM...
you need to burn the iso file using a program called imgburn.

One of the things it wasnts me to define is the NB PCIE frequency in mhz. its set to 100 at the mo. Should I change that?
On the RAM it only says 5-4-4. Is that the latency?
Ok it didn't work.
Another error message appeared saying 'a process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or has been terminated'.
I'm going to try that memory check thing now. There must be something wrong with one of the sticks.
i would have thought that would be the problem...
but if that doesn't work then the guys on here will come up with a solution in the morning (i've had enough sleep deprivation this week)
i'm sure you'll get things sorted matey
(also, it might be worth trying that BIOS flash now... just incase it adds more memory support...)
Thanks a lot for your help!
http://www.memtest86.com/ Here is memtest, can you burn an image to a cd?
