    Both My DVD Drive's Broke???

okay for a while whilst using vista everything on the screen has frozen including the mouse and after a minute i can carry on with what i am doing. i have realised this is because of one of my disc drives because it seems to turn off and then turn on and this causes vista to hang. However it doesn't seem to be the cable coneecting it so i disconected the drive to use my second drive. However when i put a cd in there to rip it says the drive is empty and starts making strange noises so at the moment i am using my xbox 360 hd dvd drive to rip cds which is very slow. Are both my drives broke???
