Question about my processor Clock Speed
Hi, i have a Q6600 Installed in my computer which has a clock speed of 2.4GHz. However, whenever i run programs such as CPU-Z or even ASUSs own AI booster, the clock speed is reported as 1600 MHz. I originally though this was because i had SpeedStep enabled, yet it was not. Why is this? Thanks for any help.
Re: Question about my processor Clock Speed
Check your bios settings?
Report them back here for everyone to see and maybe help:D
Re: Question about my processor Clock Speed
Sounds like EIST and C1E are enabled.
A Q6600 goes from 9 x 266 (2.4GHZ) to 6 x 266 (1.6GHz) when not under load with those options enabled.

Where would C1E be found?

C1E and EIST will both be BIOS options... just flick though the various BIOS menus - it'll be in there somewhere.
Why not just leave it alone anyway? It'll save you money... you only really want to switch them off if you are planning on doing some overclocking.
Re: Question about my processor Clock Speed
Overclocking is exactly the reason as to why it is annoying me as i cannot check the new speed without having to whip out a calculator in windows.
