sd card not showing photos in windows but do on camera

Got a samsung camera and photos on SD card show on the camera itself but when SD card is put into card reader, the card doesn't show any files but does show correct amount of memory used. Tried 2 different card readers and making sure no files are hidden but still no luck.

Any ideas?

It's a long shot, but how about turning on view hidden files in Explorer?

Perhaps the folder got hiden at some point and the camera just ignores this when writing the files.

Is it an SDHC card and the card reader doesn't support it? Not got much experience with sdhc but thought it might be worth a check.

If you attach the camera to the PC using the USB lead, can you see the files then?

Are you using Explorer or the Samsung Digimax software to view the files?

I would say llololloy's answer is likely to be the culprit.

What make is the camera and how new is it?
What size and make is the SD card?
What type of SD card is it? (Norma, Ultra II, SDHC)

Also, there is a possibility the camera is using a different type of filesystem (though this is unlikely)

I get the same issue when trying to use any SD card over a certain size.

I'm guessing it's the card reader's inability to read the card.

Hi Anybody found any solution yet. I am also facing same problem. mine is 2gb SD card from panasonic fz7. It used work fine never gave any problem, but just yesterday i found that although the photos are getting displyed in camera it does not do so in PC. and it shows the memory usage in property. I tried displaying hidden file , no use.

Try installing the software you got with the camera, ive took pictures with ours which were stored on the camera in a RAW file format and wouldnt display on Windows without extra plugins/software.

One thing worth trying is to format the SD card on the card reader since it is always possible that the camera has formatted the card in a not quite 100% standard way.

Of course, you will want to backup / copy any photos you want to keep off the card first for which you will need a working USB connection or similar between your PC and camera.

Try a new card reader.

The reader seems to be OK. Explorer is showing most of the photos, only the most recent are missing. Looking at Properties of the folders shows consistency with what explorer is showing.

is the system actually seeing the card? look at the cards properties from windows and see if the size you are expecting has appeared? If not then it is not connecting.

Failing this it could be any of hundreds of potential thing, but so long as your computer can see the card, and can understand it's size, then you at least have a starting point.
