Problems installing Win Media Centre on Sony laptop

Problems installing Win Media Centre 2005 O/S on my Sony laptop. i have tried lots of different versions on media centre 2005 with and without service packs. but non of them will take the serial number on the microsoft/sony sticker on the machine....

any ideas.

there is no recovery partition anymore

Ack, I'll put money on the fact that your license key is a Sony OEM license, and will only install the Sony OEM build of WMC. Sadly I think you're looking at buying recovery media from Sony in this case.
