crysis crash to desktop.

Recently, crysis has started crashing after around 10 mins in to playing. After this happened for a second time, i reinstalled the ATI drivers, and when that didnt work, tried a system restore to a few days ago, before it started happening. This didnt work either. I have tested my CPU on prime95 for over 18hrs and i have tested my GPU with ATITool for 2 hrs, with no errors. Can anyone help me, or suggest any diagnostic steps to take?

In the application log, this error shiws up:

Get rid of that overclock first. Might need to underclock if you've fried.

Otherwise re-install the latest version of DirectX from the re-distributable. Clean out any dust from your computer. Disable any real-time scanning anti-virus applications while playing.

i built the PC about 2 months ago, so there isnt any dust in it, and i have disabled my anti virus scanning already.
Where can i find the latest direct x?

just underclocked everything, cpu, memory, gpu, and it crashed again

ive tried it in DX9 mode, and it hasnt crashed for about 20 mins, looks like a direct x issue, so can someone please tell me which file to install. The error is in the d3d10.dll file, which sounds to me like directX

found it, it says its direct3D, is that direct x?


edit: i have played crysis for over 1hr in DX9, but it crashes in DX10

Direct3D is a only a component of DirectX. Get the latest DirectX (June 2008) here
