nForce Ethernet Driver Issues.

Right, after getting things sorted on the Wifes mainboard (long story), I am having serious problems getting the network drivers to install.

THey will 'install' to a point, but then I get a failure error and the device is highlighted in Device Manager, listewd currently as Ethernet driver #5, previously #4, #3 etc. But only ever with one showing.

I uninstall the device, then let the 'New Hardware' manager find it, then back to square one with the next numerical ethernet adapet...

It says that the name of the device is in use as a service or something. I have checked the services and nothing jumps out as 'dodgy' there.

Is this a known problem? Or am I stuck? I cant use a PCI Network card as the GFC cooler covers ALL the PCI slots..

Its getting desperate too as if she can't p[lay COD4 by the Game On Lan Im not allowed to take any alcohol with me, AND THAT IS GOOD!!.

what motherboard is it?

and are you installing the correct drivers?

try a different version of the driver (i.e. a newer/older revision)

ASRock 939N68PV-GLAN using provided CD.

Have just downloaded drivers from NVidia driect to see if they make a difference.

got an old hard drive u can toss in and slap a new windows on to test if the cards borked?, im due round my mates this weekend to slap a pci NIC in my old rig as i cant for love nor money get it working with any driver revision !

Sorted! Finally.

Ended up in Safe mode and mucking about with device manager. But thankfully the wife is now all ready for COD4 at the Lan party.
