I'm sure someone on here can find the answer to this problem

I swapped over all my stuff by connecting the old hardrive to the new computer and putting it on the new hard drive, which included a copy of call of duty 2, and becuase i swapped it over it didnt consider it a install, so ive deleted the folder and baught a new copy of call of duty 2 today

when i put in the disk it comes up with

    Play Single Player

    Play Multiplayer

    UNINSTALL

well i never installed it in the first place, and when i did click on any of these i here the disk drive boot up then shut down again and nothing happens, ive searched for all files to do with call of duty 2 in the seach tool but it finds nothing?

    help please.

And just in case anyone tells me to do this, i have already gone to add and remove programs to see if its there and its not.

thinking about it i assume this problem cant be fixed without doing something OTT like loosing all my stuff becuase i have to re-format the hard drive.

    whoa

ok there is a free tool called. Windows installer cleanup utility. Get that and use it to remove the game.

Then run regedit and search for the keys for that game. press f3 tick only "keys" and then search.

Having never had this game i dont know what you're searching for but try "call" or "activision"

anything you find delete and then reboot.

    re-install.

    Does that work?

Not many games are quite as portable as you seem to have thought - the installation routine will generally add registry entries and other such guff, so just moving the installation folder won't work. As has been suggested try removing the registry entries, or if you haven't done this already move the folder back to the original location and run the uninstaller.
