Ipod video "very low battery, please wait" issue

    Hi all,

On a recent holiday in Rome, my girlfriend's Ipod seemed to suffer a power surge (we assume that was the cause as the flat we were staying in wasn't grounded properly, and we'd get random electric shocks).

When we got back home, I opened it up and took a look at it, replacing the battery whilst I was at it. Now, when I turn the Ipod on I get nothing. If I plug it into the wall charger, I get nothing. If I plug it into the PC, the screen comes to life but always displays the message "very low battery, please wait".

Anyone got an idea of what to do?

    Thanks.

This will probably not help at all but with my creative Zen if the battery is flat as a pancake it takes well over an hour of charging from the PC to get it to come to life.

That said, when plugged into my wall charger it works straight away.

how long is always? I know for sure on an ipod if you run it totally flat it needs to fill its like "reserve" battery up before it is able to sync with itunes etc.

Cheers for the replies guys. It's been left plugged in to a PC overnight. The PC was full on all the time, not on standby or any power saving mode.

Not that i matters, as I feel the fact the wall charger does nothing is a bad sign.

Could it be the charger took the majority of the shock and is fried as a result? Might be worth you going to poundland or similar to get a 3rd party charger!

Hmm. Can't believe I didn't think of that!

Will give it a whirl & see what happens - cheers!

OK, so yes, the charger was the issue; that and the battery needed some "coaxing" to accept a charge. I needed to reset the iPod several times before it sprang to life and started to charge up.

So, all is good except another issue. The iPod will not not wake up using the on switch, and nor do I get audio from the headphone jack (have tried with different sets of headphones, both old and brand new). The cabling from the jack & power switch to the motherboard all looks fine, but I can't tell for sure.

    Any further ideas?
