Blue Screen/No Display on Vista Startup

    Hello hello,

I've been having this problem since I built my new computer with Vista Home Premium (32bit) installed.

Occasionally, when I start the computer up everything seems fine, but my monitor stays blue - this is it's sort of default colour when it isn't receiving input so I don't think it's a 'windows blue-screen' problem.

When this happens I have to restart the machine or turn it off, sometimes resulting in an error where windows then asks if I want to start again as normal or go into safe mode etc.

However, some other times the computer will start up fine with no problems.

What could be causing this problem?

This might sound really dumb, but I had the same problem as you, with the computer I'm using right now (XP Home 32-bit)
This PC is all connected to a power box (the thing with the red button to turn on and off the power of the box)
I always turn the red button off when I turn PC off, when I turn it on again, the PC (especially the monitor) needed like 4 seconds to get that signal.
I didn't knew this and right after I turned the red button on, I pressed the power of my PC, the PC started up, but guess what? My monitor turned to it's 'black screen' mode, where it shows it has no signal, the only way for me to fix this was to reset the PC lol
Eventually I found this out, and I waited like 5 seconds before I pressed the PC power button, haven't had this problem so far.

This might be a similair problem your having ;d

    Thanks for the reply!

I don't think this is what is happening because I don't turn everything off at the plug - when I shut down the computer I simply turn the monitor off from the front panel.
