Radial film capacitor?

its an 82K cap probably EF8 on the above page.

Thanks guys.
Any ideas what the markings mean(farads?)? ( 824k 400V )
824k =
8 2 0000 pF with tolerance of +/-10%
the capacitor markings are similar to resistors but using numbers instead of colour bands
so the first number in the code (in this case 8) gives the first value
the second number gives the second number of the value (in this case 2)
and the third number gives the multiplier (in this case 4)
and the letter on the end signifies the tolerance of the cap (which in this case is 'k' which means +/-10%)
but caps codes are measured in pico Farads...
so the value is 820000 pico Farads
which = 820 nano Farads (nF)
or 0.82 mF (micro Farads)
or 0.00082 F (Farads
but sometimes you just get the pure value stamped on.. such as 4n5 which means that it is a 4.5 nano Farad cap (the position of the letter shows the decimal point)
caps often have the material stamped on them aswell
Code:Marking ¦ Material MKT Metallised Polyester (PETP) MKC Metallised Polycarbonate KT Polyester Film / Foil KS Polystyrene Film / Foil KP Polypropylene Film / Foil MKP Metallised PolypropyleneCode:Tolerance Code ¦ Tolerance C +/- 0.25pF D +/- 0.5pF F +/- 1% G +/- 2% J +/- 5% K +/- 10% M +/- 20% Z - 20% +80%
Great info. Didn't know capacitors had markings similar to capactors. Always thought that they only had the face value. Thanks!
