pc screen flashing
Hi there, i have a maxdata pc (cant quite remember what model:rolleyes: ) but the specs are:
core 2 duo E6450
500gb sata hd
350 watt generic psu
xfx 7900gt with zalmen vf900 cu
asus p5vdc-tvm mobo
2gb ram
basically the problem is after a few minutes of use and in perticular during gaming the screen will flash on and off and eventually just black out altogether and white lines will appear on the screen, then fade away. I am assuming its the psu, so i am going to buy this: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/135159Before i did i just wanted to find out if it was a psu unrelated problem?
thanks.

Re: pc screen flashing
Hi,7900GT requires a minimum of 350W psu which u already have but u need more than 20A on the 12V+ rails. And i dont this ur psu has this.
I hope its the reason.
Generic 350W PSU

Re: pc screen flashing
try testing with a smaller gfx that you know works.

Re: pc screen flashing
ye i have now taken out the gfx card an back on onboard, the issue seems much less frequent now, but looks like the psu is a goner, not to worry though should have upgraded the psu a long time ago. thanks for the help.

Re: pc screen flashing
I had a similar problem - turned out to be the monitor. Can you try the monitor on anotther computer?
Assuming it is a flat screen, when the picture disappears, if you look at the screen at an angle, can you see a 'ghost' image? If so, then the backlight on the monitor has failed - which cooukd be the lamp itself or the lamp PSU.
