755 cooler mounting

(Yes, I know the title is wrong. Should say 775. D'oh!)

The pushpin arrangement on the 775 cooler leaves a lot to be desired. You have to put much more pressure on the motherboard than I feel comfortable with when you install it and I somehow don't trust it to make a good thermal joint with the processor.

Is there any way of making a more secure connection? Does anyone do a bolt through mounting?

I'm going to be watercooling shortly. I have all the necessary parts but I'm not too happy about attaching the CPU waterblock with these pins.

Hi i never liked those push pins for cooler mounting.The best way to do it might be to turn your motherboard around an then use a plier to pull the pins from below.

if you get a xigmatec s1283 and the cross mounting kit, then you have a backplate on the motherboard and you screw the xigmatec in to that

(not sure if you can use the backplate with the ordinary stock cooler tho... i doubt it...)

water blocks come with bolt through kits m8, ek, dden etc

I have the Alphacool which has pushpins on the frame that secures the cooler. Maybe I need to get a different waterblock.

Fitted on the other day, couldnt believe how much force was needed! Ridiculous design from Intel.

I thought I busted my motherboard when installing my retail intel HSF. Stupid design. I would say, try a different waterblock or if Alphacool do one, a bolt through kit.

my motherboard become bended warped due to this push pins , I eliminated the push pins and installed four 4M screws with four nylon lock nuts and of course a thick metallic backplate , now the mobo is again straight
