Re: HELP-I THINK I FRIED MY Q6600 (Go steping)
is it still the general:
the actual wattage of the ezcools is half its advertised?
even though wattage doesn't matter...
to see why we are all against ezcool grab something to monitor the voltage down the rails... a good PSU will keep them nice and stable under extreme load.
take for example the corsair VX450w IIRC that can give out 700w peak stable....
but when buying a PSU you cannot and must not go by the wattage.. the PSU needs to be powerful enough to chuck lots 'o amps down those rails... and it should also have inbuilt protection for in the event it did blow up.. but the EZCools have none of this...
they are just very generic PSU's in a nice box and braided cables....
but as has been said, keep an eye on scans today only section for the FSP 700w, which comes down to a nice cheap price, and is a stable PSU...

You won't regretting the Corsair. Also bookmark this page or remember it and check it each weekday at 1-2pm when it changes. You'll see PSU's on there at discount prices but for 1 day only. The FSP ones are around £30 and theres XClio ones on there at times. If you have 20 posts you'll be able to get free delivery and buy one of those and your system won't be sitting around gathering dust.
Re: HELP-I THINK I FRIED MY Q6600 (Go steping)
ok then how much does a 520watt crosair cost then? btw what should i say when i return my ez-cool?

£68 but you don't need a 520w one. My system doesn't use 400w even. the VX450 would be decent for you.

or
Enermax are another good make.

Only thing is they aren't modular which would be helpful if you have a teeny case (even helps in big cases too) but you can't have it all somethings gotta give. Anyway we're not trying to make you waste money we're just trying to help. If you think what we're saying isn't of any use then you could always risk the EZ-Cool and see how long it lasts.
Re: HELP-I THINK I FRIED MY Q6600 (Go steping)
they better not fail me or ill kick someone in the nuts....(i only spend loads of money on cpu and gpu everything else i buy cheap)
Re: HELP-I THINK I FRIED MY Q6600 (Go steping)
lol i have always buy the best psu I can afford, it doesnt need upgrade very often

you can't guarantee they won't fail you but they have a damn higher success rate and longevity than any EZ-Cool or cheap PSU. + and they have better protection in case of a blowout reducing the chances of you losing your parts.
Re: HELP-I THINK I FRIED MY Q6600 (Go steping)
see if ez-cool cost 100 quid would u approve it?

1000% no
however.. if the corsairs were £20, i'd buy fifty :D
edit: the extra '0' was accidental... but oh well, it still stands

No lol.
Then it would be 100/23 times more of a ripoff. Have a think why it's so cheap. Here's an example to get you understanding.
Question: Why didn't you buy a cheaper graphics card?
Like this one? http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=799625
It's cheaper than a 4850.
Answer: It's not as powerful, hence the cheapness. You wouldn't even get 3000 3DMarks. Whereas with a 4850 you would and some.
Understand a bit more now why the EZ Cool is so cheap? We don't recommend them based on their price but because they are more stable and unlikely to blow up and take your parts with it. If you still can't comprehend the reasoning, then stick with the EZ Cool and post back with the results when it blows up.
Re: HELP-I THINK I FRIED MY Q6600 (Go steping)
tbh the ez cool wont blow up unless i xfire or overclock which i do none of at the moment but i am going to oc my cpu so im gona return ez cool tommrow and if they take it ill invest in a good psu

willing to put money on that one?
it could probably find a way of exploding just by looking at it...
Re: HELP-I THINK I FRIED MY Q6600 (Go steping)

You said in previous posts your older pc's psu blew up too. was that naturally or were you overclocking on it and stressing it. The EZ-Cool will just take longer to explode if you weren't overclocking or crossfiring. However it would a) Provide you with unstable voltages. b) Have a bad efficiency causing you to pay more money over the years making that cheap psu not so cheap.
Read this http://forums.hexus.net/help-technic...-exploded.html
Our shadowmaster has had a brush with one of these PSU's so he knows what he's talking about.
I think the EZ-Cools and others are still being sold by retailers so customers like yourself can buy one, blow up their components, then come back to spend more money. It's the only logical reason why they'd sell it.

Ughh..
Guess the Obi-Wan mug to the head wasn't enough.
Well then you keep the EZ-Cool, spend the money on a good compatible motherboard and run the PC overclocked like on the previous cheap PSU. Most likely we won't hear back with a reply if it does blow up because you won't want to be hearing "We told you so" :)
Re: HELP-I THINK I FRIED MY Q6600 (Go steping)
nah im my older pc which i still have was never overclocked but its psu failed cos it came under too much stress when i launched a powerful game

Normal PSU's don't perform like that....
