    Installing OS with IDE/SATA

    Hi,
I will shortly be installing XP on a new SATA hard drive.
    The question is :-
Can I install the OS using an IDE connected DVD, to a SATA connected Hard drive?
Essentially I only have an IDE DVD drive and wish to install to a SATA HDD.
Can I run the IDE DVD to install to a SATA HDD, do I have to adjust BIOS?

    Many thanks,

    Re: Installing OS with IDE/SATA

Sure, but check whether your SATA controller (the SATA chip on your motherboard) requires a driver floppy during Windows setup. If it does, you'll need to provide that for setup to see the hard disk.
