Raid 0 drives not detected by WinXP setup.

    Hardware
Abit IX38 mobo (purchased as a refurb - I have no official disks)
    2x Hitachi deskstars 500gb sata.
    IDE dvdrw
    Floppy.
4mb PCI Matrox graphics card (I'm not faffing with the watercooling on my PCIE card still in the old machine yet unless I have too)
[also new sata dvdrw but see below]

    OS disks tried
Windows XP32 service pack 2 disk.
Windows XP64 (no service pack) disk tried as well.

    ----

With the sata drive was blue screening at the "loading windows" part after the drive install wait. It was doing this with or without the floppy F6 raid drivers being installed. It was ok with just one drive connected.

    ---

The 2 drives have been set up in raid 0, 128K strip, 1 big 940gb partition.

Ive tried the drives on connectors 1+2 and 1 + (either 3or4).

    I've extracted the 6 files from this driver -> RAID/AHCI Software - Intel® Matrix Storage Manager v 8.2.0.1001 for 2000 / XP / XP 64bit / 2003 / 2003 64bit / Vista 32bit / Vista 64bit ] to make a 64 bit ICH9R floppy.
I used the 6 files in this download -> 32-bit Floppy Configuration Utility for Intel® Matrix Storage Manager for the 32bit ICH9R floppy.
It seems to add the ICH9R drive ok at the F6 stage, I can select it ok from the list etc.

I'm *pretty* sure that that is the right driver to use at the F6 stage?

    -----------------------------------

I have the "on chip" Sata setting set to 'raid' in the bios, and seems find at the ctrl-I manager. I have the external "jbl...something" bios option set to IDE. I have dissabled lan, sound, firewire options for now.

I dont quite know what bios revision it is. But presume its fairly new as it detects my new core2 5200 cpu ok.

    All suggestions appreciated!!

    Thanks for the quick response!

You mean I need to install more than just the Intel ICH9R sata/Acpi... driver at the F6 stage?

there should be an option to make the floppy from the driver cd m8, have you done that instead of making your own ?

Re: Raid 0 drives not detected by WinXP setup.

Update. I've located an old Vista Release candidate 1 CD and its detected the raid 0 drive find (and without blue screening from the sata drive).

This now purely appears to be an XP driver issue. Posting in the Xbit support forum now.

Re: Raid 0 drives not detected by WinXP setup.

Sorted. Both of the above files were wrong.

The 32bit one was from a link provided on a American forum. And the second, I'd followed instructions from the Intel txt file on the correct 64 bit os windows full driver.

Both turned out to be ACPI sata drivers, and not raid, with "RAID" in the name when selecting from the F6 'specify' list. Awful instructions, a bad link, and my bad for not anticipating something like this sooner.
