    Be-Quiet PSU & Antec 1200 issue

    Hi guys,

I bought a Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 650W PSU and an antec twelve hundred case recently, but after reading the manual for the PSU I noticed a problem.

    It states:

Attention: only one fan per connection cable!
Maximum load for all connections in sum 1.2A/14.4W!

Now there are only four fan connecters + cables. Yet the Antec Twelve Hundred has 6 fans.

Is it possible for me to connect all of the fans using the molex adaptor that allows me to put more than one fan on a cable or will I run into problem with the power supply?

The specifications for the case fans are:

    1 x 200mm Fan Specifications:
    Rated Voltage: 12V DC
    Operating Voltage: 10.8V ~ 13.2 V

Speed: 800 RPM Input Current: 0.3A Input Power: 3.6 W
Speed: 600 RPM Input Current: 0.17A Input Power: 2.04 W
Speed: 400 RPM Input Current: 0.08A Input Power: 1.0 W

    5 x 120mm Fan Specifications:
    Rated Voltage: 12V DC
    Operating Voltage: 10.2V ~ 13.8V
Speed: 2000 RPM Input Current: 0.24A (Max.) Input Power: 2.9 W
Speed: 1600 RPM Input Current: 0.2A Input Power: 2.4 W
Speed: 1200 RPM Input Current: 0.13A Input Power: 1.6 W

So yeah, will I be able to power all 6 fans with this PSU by piggy-backing the molex connectors or will I overload my PSU?

    Cheers for your advice guys!

    Re: Be-Quiet PSU & Antec 1200 issue

Total wattage from the fans is 18.1W, but this assumes all 6 are running at max (how often and for how long is this going to happen?)
Although you will exceed the PSU limits by 25%, a 650W unit should handle the potential extra 3.7W without blinking.
Suck it and see, or if nervous, just connect 3 of the 120mm

If they're just running off the molex connector via an adaptor that will be fine, i think the 1.2a max just refers to the load on the four fan connectors on the actual PSU as that also controls the speed on the fans depending on temperatures.
