    Angry IDE blues on DX38BT

    Hiya,
I've just finished fixing in my DX38BT intel mobo (an upgrade from a measly VIAP900). Since I am still waiting for my new SATA disk, I am trying to make do with 2 IDE disks. As you may know, the DX38BT has only one IDE channel - due to this, I cannot connect my DVD-rom device (IDE).

Problem is, if I put the DVD-rom on slave IDE with the Hard disk as primary, it simply won't work - regardless of the jumpering combination. Has anyone else come across this problem on the DX38BT mobo? If so, please let me know how to fix it.

have you try using cable select rather than master/slave?

would be worthwhile trying with the dvd=master/hdd=slave

failing that, have you got a usb pen drive?

Yep, tried Cable-select, but with HDD-Master/DVD-rom as slave. Lemme try what you've suggested. Will keep you posted.

    Thanks for you prompt reply.

When using Cable Select, you should set the jumpers to cable select and not master/slave.
While it should work, I've seen times when its caused issues (A MSI board I had did it )
