    Graphics card failure

    Graphics card = HD 2900XT 512mb

Turned on my main PC today to get a teamspeak IP, all went well, just as I was marvelling at the size of the 22" monitor compared to the 10" on my advent 4211 which has had way more use this last week the entire system froze up. Nothing responded. Held in the power button until shutdown then rebooted the system.

Wouldn't reach post screen and the monitor didnt even recognise the PC was turned on. A synchronised clicking noise and flashing red LED were sounding from the graphics card (HD 2900XT 512mb). I've searched all over the place but I can't find out what these mean. The manual is next to useless and contains 12 or so pages of rubbish and informs of an online manual, which isn't online but on the disk and is on the PC when you install the drivers. Lots of help.

Anyone have any clue on what the flashing LED and clicking noise mean? A bit more specific than bricked would be great

I'm fairly sure it's the graphics card as it is making the clicking noise, and flashing light.

I have already Reset CMOS, , reseated the card (and placed in the 2nd PCI-Express slot)taken out 2 sticks of ram and all other PCI cards just to be sure.

The DFI Infinity CFX3200 M2/G doesn't have onboard graphics and my other PC is still on oldschool AGP so it's rather difficult to be 100% sure.

    Re: Graphics card failure

Booted to windows with 1 stick of ram, cpu, gfx and HDD connected. Hoorah!

I love posting on forums for help.

I literally spent hours trying to sort this out beforehand, but it always seems to be that after I post on a forum for help I manage to figure it out myself.

Sorry for this waste of space and me typing to myself

It's not a waste of space, someone else may find it useful.
