RAM problem

Hi, i have the following problem - please can someone help?

My computer won’t start up with both sticks of RAM. It works fine with either one stick alone, and it works fine in any socket. After about a month if I try to use 2 sticks of RAM they work again(!) but only for a few weeks. I have the following:

Processor
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz Socket
LGA775, 4MB, BOXED w/fan

Motherboard
ABIT IL9 PRO, Intel 945P, Socket-775,
ATX, SATAII, DDR2, GbLAN, PCI-Ex16

Graphics card
Sapphire Radeon X1950PRO 256MB GDDR3,
PCI-Express, HDCP, 2xDVI-I, Lite-Retail

RAM
A-Data DDR2 667 (dual kit)

Have you tried slightly increasing the voltage on the northbridge?

not sure what northbridge is? i have tried increasing the DIMM Voltage in the BIOS.

Have you run memtest86+ ??

Hmm how long did you run it for?
Sounds like you might have a faulty motherboard... try using slots 2+4 if your using 1+3 or vice versa.

ran it twice - took about 30 mins. Have tried slots 2+4 as well, all slots work (have tried each stick of RAM in each of the 4 slots and they all work seperately)

Try a bios update and if that doesn't work then it's most likely a faulty motherboard.

i have just been on the manufaturer's website to do this but the only option it gives is to write a floppy disk (which i don't have). Do you know of another way i can update the BIOS? (that is free).

is there someway i can test if my motherboard is faulty?

if not then i think i wll invest in a new one to save hastle. please can someone let me know if these are any good? just want something that is good value for money and won't be the weak link of my pc (my setup is at the beginning of this post).
