    Samsung 226 bw

Had this monitor since January this year but now i have an issue with it (i think i do anyway) Today I noticed three small black dots on my screen, and there were some other marks but they wiped off ok. Turned my 360 on to check if it was still there, and sure enough 3 black spots. Now has something gone wrong with the screen? As im pretty sure it not dirt as the screen cloth i have won't get rid of them.

    Any ideas?

    Dead pixels ?

Yeah dead pixels are all part of how a TFT is really. the best way to test for these I've found is to set the wallpaper of windows as a set colour - red, green, blue and then hide the icons etc and see if you can see any pixels which are not uniformly coloured.

Don't forget though that there is an ISO standard which allows for the failure of so many pixels and the type of failures before it can be classed as a faulty display.

    Re: Samsung 226 bw

Need some more help. I did call Samsung not long after I created this thread, and was told a tech guy would call back.............they did not.

Called again yesterday and was told I need five dead pixels (sp?) in order for them to replace it. Now I already have one dead pixel and a friend said he though Samsung would replace it with just that. Can anyone confirm this? I did think I had three but when i wiped the screen they went away. However, I definitely have one dead pixel.

Now that I know where the dead pixel is its a bit annoying lol

    Thanks

Sometimes you can rub a dead pixel back to life.
You have to be very gentle though no force or fingernails. Just use a very soft cloth and rub very gently in little circles for a few seconds or more to see if you can get it back to life.
I had this problem on my laptop and was successful in reviving it.
One dead pixel is not within most manufacturers warranty.
