I have currently got a 20" monitor at 1680x1050 and am planning to buy a new 26" one with the resolution 1920x1200 and i want to know if i can set up multiply monitors with them both running at their max resolution. i havn't decieded if i want them as a mirror or two seperate displays but i want to run both of them at the max res but i'm worried the 1680x1050 one will limit it.
Don't see why not, I'm running two different resolution monitors at work, a 22" @ 1680x1050 and a 17" @ 1280x1024, both as separate desktops and that's just on a Nvidia 7300 something.
If your graphics card supports dual monitors and the 1920x1200 resolution, then yes it will work
i'm running 2 1920x1200s on my 8800GT, and it's working fine.
so yeah, it'll run them.

Shame but the more i think about it the more i would make use of having two different monitors
i use my 2nd monitor for MSN only.
the main monitor gets used for browsing an everything else.
i have no real use for the 2 monitors tbh.
They do need to be in the same resolution for them to work in clone, thats why when you plug your laptop into a tv through svideo, it will reconfigure the laptop display to 1024x768.
Dual monitors only become worthwhile if you use them for work to show different parts at the same time.
I have worked in the AV industry for a while before becoming a sailing instructor, and the only thing I used dual monitors for was monitoring the HiQnet and the DMX systems (some of the screen arrays we had for those were pretty impressive) otherwise I've had no real use for a dual monitor setup, just an extra drain of juice from the socket.
But yes, you will be able to set them up to work as separate displays, but not in clone mode unless they are the same resolution.
In gaming i assume the main monitor shows the game whilst the 2nd one shows what it was left last doing
In any of the dual monitor setups I've had, the second monitor goes blank as the graphics card goes into 3D mode. The desktop is drawn in 2D mode. Then as soon as you quit the game, the second monitor comes back with what you were doing.
Yes, I have had it doing this but I can't remember whether it was through Windows or the Nvidia control panel.
I would imagine then it would be through the nvidea control panel, because windows blanks the second screen in 3D mode (unless you used separate gfx cards for each monitor?)
That would be fine i just don't want an image thats stretched over the two screens.

it's pretty good if you have very thin bezels, crosshairs are difficult though, cos they go right between the 2 monitors.
