HELP!!!! DV via Firewire to PC problem!!!

Why might my PC not see my DV camera when connected via IEEE1394 Firewire?

It always has before.

However in Ulead DVD Movie Factory 3 it is no longer seen as a capture device.


I am so confused.......my TI IEEE1394 Firewire interface is still there,

direct wired to the motherboard.

If I try Ulead VCapture I get this:


The software can't see the damn camera.....it worked the other day!!!!

This is the only firewire device I currently have so can't check the connection with another device....

How can I check if it's my PC or the camera or the software?

And wtf is going wrong?

had this problem in the past.

1) Uninstall software
2) remove camra and remove drivers
3) uninstall firewire via same mode
4) reboot
5) let it re pick up all devices
6) reinstall drivers and software
7) plug camra back in

This worked for me in the past. Hope it helps.

Tried all that last night...I was up til 2am (on a work night0 trying to sort it.

Brought the camera to work.
Connected it to a Mac (no work PCs have firewire) - didn't see it.
Changed cable - Mac didn't see it.

Tried USB and my work PC saw it!
However USB only provides MPEG1 [NOT AVI/Mpeg2] quality video so is no good for what I need.....

So perhaps it's the FW port on the camera?

What can I check?

hmm thats a bit bad. have you checked all you settings with in the cameras menus. If i remember correctly you can turn off the fire wire via sub menus and use USB as default.

Other than that i personly would be stumped my self.
