Streaming fullscreen video onto external monitor

    Hi,

Currently have a 22" monitor connected to my laptop for whenever I want some TV on in the background. Normally i just use it for BBC iPlayer.

I normally load up firefox, goto iPlayer, select what i want to watch and then drag it over to the external monitor (setup as DualView under nvidia config). I can then click the fullscreen button and it fills the 22" screen and my laptop display remains the same. Brilliant!

However if i click on anything in the laptop screen, BBC iPlayer returns back to normal size! This means i cant display a video on fullscreen and still use my laptop. Have checked and it occurs with every form of streaming video through a web browser. It does not occur through Windows Media Player if i am playing a video from my harddrive.

Can someone please give me a workaround for this problem?

    Thanks

It's an unwanted feature of Flash Player, we all have to live with it.

If you don't mind a little DRM you could use Channel 4's Watch Online service, which uses WMP and therefore doesn't have the same problem.

I thought this was just a problem for me! It's so infuriating, hooked up my laptop to a spare monitor I have hoping for some nice Browsing + iPlayer and I was treated with constant resizing.

Although this is not ideal it may be a better solution, you can get a browser like opera which has the "zoom" feature, and whenever your playing your video just zoom in so it almost fills your spare monitor, that way it wont resize.

Thanks, a simple solution. Works in Firefox using Ctrl + and Ctrl -. Just wish I'd thought of it before.
