    Edit a DVD?

A colleague has just come up to me and asked a personal favour - she has a wedding DVD that some firm/friend/bloke with a camera has created.

As I understand it the DVD has a menu structure etc...

She has asked me if I can 'chop a bit out' - basically for some family reasons or some nonsense (I didn't ask) she wants to delete a few mins from the DVD...

Now, if I create an image of the DVD I assume I will get VOB file etc...

If I find said VOB file which contains that part of the wedding - can I edit that (perhaps in Super, Media Coder etc) and then just rename it to a VOB again... burn the stuff to a new DVD and hey presto it keeps the menu structure etc?

I'm pretty amature when it comes to video editing and I just tend to snip bits out of AVIs etc... so... will this work... whats the best bit of free software to do it?!

    Re: Edit a DVD?

Yeah you should be able to remove that section of audio and video without affecting the rest of the DVD.

One thing that might get messed up is any chapter points.

Have a look on http://www.doom9.org/ for starters. Lots of tools on there along with re-coding guides and a very big forum.
