Bsod
Hi, i get a bsod of whenever i try and load tf2, the only game which is giving me this issue. It says page fault in non paged area stop 0x000000008e whch i believe refers to a memory problem, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix it? could it possibly be voltage or timing issue? i have checked the bios and everything is set to auto.
sorry specs are
asrock vsta 775 bios 2.7
powercolour radeon x1950 xt 256mb
2 gigs corsair ram (not sure precisely which model, but can find out if needs be)
maxtor - 6y160po, samsung - HD753LJ, Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 - ST3120827as
creative sound blaster 5.1

Re: Bsod
either fill in your system specs or reply with the hardware spec of your pc so we can see what you have, might be a bad page file though, you can delete this from safe mode if you have your folder settings set to show hidden system files.

Re: Bsod
Did you try deleting the pagefile from safe mode as suggested?
-
Re: Bsod
Verify game files and try different drivers (or even reinstalling them).
-
Re: Bsod
Ok tried deleting the pagefile.sys file and nope it still crashes. I get a variety of different messages bad pool caller, dmio.sys, page fault in non paged area, irql not less or equal to, really dont know what to do.
Edit just had another one wdmaud.sys

Re: Bsod
Overclocked? Try setting to Auto settings or Normal, etc.

Re: Bsod
Thanks for the help, it would appear its the ram. I swapped the sticks over to an old pair I had and it works fine.

Re: Bsod
I brought some new ram as i was a bit to lazy to do a mem test, and also because it seemed like a good deal, but the new ram i brought is also giving me errors. I have also found that if i use slot 1 it doesnt register the ram correctly - says 1024 instead of 2048. Does this suggest that mobo is borked ? I should also point out that using the normal ddr slots as opposed to the ddr2 slots everything runs fine.

Re: Bsod
That would tend to point to a faulty motherboard.

Re: Bsod
any suggestions for a decent motherboard ?
-
Re: Bsod
asus or gigabite, not abit as there supports dropped off the planet now they no longer make motherboards.
asrock have always been super budget boards so you get what you pay for.

Re: Bsod
Asus boards are always very nice, they look brilliant and the customer support is brilliant, the only problem is downloading drrivers from their site takes ages.
