XMS2 major headache
Good Morning everyone.
I recently got 2 1gb sticks of xms2 4-4-4-12 ram from a seller on ebay.
it took 2 weeks for it to arrive, the delivery on the auction was £5 but the post mark stated it was £1.50 and only posted out on Friday after the seller told me it was posted last Monday (8th)so I wasn’t happy about that, installed the ram, got to the xp loading logo blue screen flashed up and pc restarted.
So I removed my original 2 gig which is exactly the same model and latency as the stuff I got from ebay.
Put just the new ram in and exactly the same happened.
So I tried with just one stick of the ram in it worked fine, swapped the ram over another blue screen and reset.
So I have 1 working stick and one broken.
I cannot see what error comes up because the blue screen just flashes up.
any ideas guys? just want to know if there is anything which could cause this. it seems to me that I have been sold a broken stick of memory.
I take it the lifetime warranty is handled by the retailer the ram was purchased from?
I have lodged a dispute with paypal, and am wishing I hadn’t been such a cheap sod and just got the ram brand new for the extra £15.

Re: XMS2 major headache
Start>my computer>System properties>Advanced system settings>Start up and recovery>settings.
Uncheck the box for automatic restart if system failure, so you can see the blue screen and see the error.

Re: XMS2 major headache
You can go direct to corsair but the shipping will be more than the RAM is worth lol
Google memtest, download and run it on the various sticks. Although this will probably just confirm what you have already found.
